Sr. Software Engineer - Python Tooling

The world loves Postgres. If you work with developers or data scientists or anyone wrangling data, you’ll probably see a sticker with the tusks and trunk of the Postgres elephant on the lid of a nearby laptop. EDB has a lot to do with that.

We’ve been major contributors to Postgres since the beginning, and we are proud to call thousands of boundary pushing customers our partners. Proud though we are, we are not resting on our laurels. There’s plenty of work to do. The good news is that everything we do will impact Postgres, which is to say that it will impact the world. No pressure.

We are looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer - Python Tooling Developer to be part of our team that will be responsible for helping us develop, maintain and support our open source infrastructure projects for automation of Postgres clusters, Postgres High Availability and Postgres Backup technologies. This includes working with Ansible, the Barman project pgbarman.org, the Patroni project and several in-house tools.

• Candidates = This is a role that is 100% remote. We are particularly interested in people located in the UK or EU to help complete coverage of our global team.

What Your Impact Will Be

• You will report to the Engineering Manager and be a part of our Postgres Global Development team.
• Help develop our automation tool for Postgres clusters.
• Involve in one or more open source communities and help the community thrive by responding to questions, reviewing code and contributing features to the projects(s).
• Help define schedules and meet target delivery dates for new releases.
• Collaborate with members of the Postgres Global Development team to incorporate support for newly implemented features into the infrastructure projects.
• Work with our world class support team to resolve customer issues and provide training for new product releases.
• Write regression tests for both newly reported bugs and new features.
• Assist with growing our test automation team via our CI/CD pipeline.

What you will bring:

• Minimum of 4-5 years of professional development experience with Python
• Knowledge with the PostgreSQL open source database
• Strong communication skills
• Experience with Github Actions

What will give you an edge:

• Experience working in an open source environment
• Experience with three (3) or more programming languages such as: C programming, Golang, Ruby
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with pipeline technologies or some other framework
